Christie Nelson
Senior Municipal Trader

With over twelve years of experience in the financial markets, Christie joined Sovereign in 2008 as our Senior Municipal Trader.  In this role, Christie will assist in the development of broad-market strategies and will lead in the analysis of relative value across sectors and between issuers – all within the municipal bond market.

Immediately prior to joining Sovereign, Christie served as a senior municipal bond trader for Wachovia’s Evergreen Investments - one of the twenty five largest asset management firms in the country.  Within Evergreen, Christie focused her talents on the Customized Solutions Group, a specialty division serving the unique needs of highly tailored portfolios for individuals and institutions alike.  In this role, she served as a market advisor to the portfolio management staff, responsible for the analysis and communication of market events, the determination of relative value and the broad execution of all strategies within the municipal market.  During her tenure with Wachovia, Christie also served within the Capital Markets Group, providing trading support between the bank, the Depository Trust Company (DTC) and the Federal Reserve.

Christie earned a B.A. degree (Industrial Relations) in 1995 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  While at Carolina, she was also a member of the varsity gymnastics team – amazingly enough, finding the time to place three years running on the prestigious ACC Honor Roll.
