G. David Hollins, CFA
Senior Portfolio Manager/Director of Credit Research

Throughout a career that has spanned over twenty years, David has actively participated in the management of investment grade and high-yield corporate bond portfolios for both income-oriented and total-return investors.  During this time, David has consistently demonstrated success in developing relative value strategies across corporate sectors, quality distributions and individual holdings to best achieve client needs. His focus and expertise lies in a highly equity-oriented approach to fundamental analysis, with particular emphasis on valuation differences across various asset classes.

Immediately prior to joining Sovereign Advisors in 2008, David served as the Director of Research for Blackhawk Capital Management, a hedge fund specializing in exploiting dislocations in the corporate bond market through the use of an aggressive, short-biased strategy. He has also served as the senior credit analyst for Bank of America’s management of institutional and mutual fund products and for the investment division of UnumProvident, the nation’s largest provider of disability insurance. David began his career as a commercial lender with Bank of America and SunTrust.

David has B.S. in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from The University of Tennessee, and an M.B.A. from East Tennessee State University, and was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2000. He is also actively involved in the North Carolina CFA Society, the Charlotte Economics Club, and the University of Tennessee National Alumni Association.
