Sunil Devarakonda
Senior Taxable Trader and Credit Research Analyst

Sunil joined Sovereign in the fall of 2007, coming to us with over five years of broad experience in trading and risk management strategies for fixed-income portfolios. His primary responsibilities at Sovereign are the execution of and implementation of risk-management strategies for the taxable products.  In addition, he will be actively involved in credit research and the selection of individual credits across all taxable products.

Immediately prior to joining Sovereign, Sunil served as Credit Derivative and Correlation/Credit Trader for Silverback Asset Management, a $1bn hedge fund group focused on the credit-based sectors.  At Silverback, Sunil traded across a broad range of taxable fixed-income products: corporate bonds, credit default swaps, interest rate swaps, options and convertible bonds.  His responsibilities included not only the execution of investment in these vehicles but also the management of product risk via macro and micro hedging strategies.  In this capacity, Sunil also worked closely with the quantitative strategies group in the development of custom bond option pricing and risk management models and software for the firm.  Prior to this, Sunil served as an Associate for Global Value Investors in Princeton, New Jersey, one of the top-rated financial firms in the US as stated by Worth Magazine.

Sunil holds a B.S. degree (Economics and Computer Science) from Duke University.  His interests include all things related to Duke basketball, tennis, snowboarding and reading.
